The United Nations Mission in Haiti (UNMIH) Medal is presented by the United Nations for service in the mission providing peackeeping in Haiti from September 1993 – June 1996, after rebel forces overthrew the elected government. The mandate involved the establishment of a new Haitian police force and modernization of the Haitian Armed forces. Service members participating in subsequent missions replacing the original UNMIH are also elligble of this award.
