Description

Inspired by the trumpet-blowing White Rabbit that Alice follows down the rabbithole to Wonderland, Michael Anastassiades’s Trumpet vases are produced thesame way as the bell of this ancient wind instrument. He chose for one of themost traditional techniques of hand-turned metal, whereby a disk of metal, usuallybrass, is formed. Its diameter is then progressively narrowed to the size of a finger, which allows the piece to be welded to the rest of the object’s body. This process isused to build most wind instruments. In Anastassiades’s poetic eye, it gives shapeto flower vases whose convex underside curves up into the shaft as an ulteriorconnection to the shape of the object by which it was inspired. Available in twoversions, brass and silver-plated brass.##SPECIFICATION##Flower vase with wide neck. Turned brass sheet.
