The Dervisci tumblers by Michele De Lucchi were inspired by the spinning movement ofthe turning-lathe used to model sheet metal on a die, progressively shaping the object’svolume. De Lucchi associates the rotating machine with the dance of whirling dervishes,who reach a state of trance by reciting prayers while continuously spinning round andround, a symbol of planets orbiting. The sculptural, dynamic design of the three Derviscitumblers is enhanced by the different finishes of the metal surface: polished steel; steelwith copper PVD coating; steel with brass PVD coating; and steel with satined gunmetalPVD coating.##SPECIFICATION##Tumbler. 18/10 stainless steel sheet.
